TARGET GROUP - Those who are wanting to become qualified as a Field Observer (FOBS) or a Fire Effects Monitor (FEMO).
COURSE PREREQUISITES -
For FOBS, qualified single resource boss.
For FEMO, qualified FFT2 and S290, Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior
COURSE DESCRIPTION - This course is designed to provide the trainee with the skills necessary to perform as a FOBS or FEMO. The basic subjects covered in the course include: identifying and interpreting maps, making map calculations, using observation aids and instruments, performing field observations and communicating information. A pre-course work assignment is part of the course which aids in preparing or refreshing the trainees in field map and compass skills needed for gathering and displaying fire information.
COURSE OBJECTIVES - Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: à Demonstrate the skills, knowledge and tools necessary to gather and report information for planning.
