TARGET GROUP - personnel desiring to gain competency in the use of portable pumps and water.

COURSE DESCRIPTION - This course consists of three skill levels: supply, delivery and application of water. Students will be required to demonstrate their knowledge of correct water use, basic hydraulics and equipment care. The field exercise requires set up, operation and maintenance of pump equipment.

S231 is a skill course designed to produce student proficiency in the performance of all duties associated with the engine boss.

COURSE OBJECTIVES - Upon completion of this course, students will:

• Select equipment required to maintain a flow of water as required by the incdient.
• Install pumps, hose lays and holding tanks to provide water for use during all phases of the incident.
• Perform required field maintenance on a portable pump.
