FIRE SEASON ENDS Klamath and Lake County

14-Oct-2009 15:52:32
Lakeview, Oregon - The 2009 Fire Season has officially ended for Klamath and Lake Counties. Fire management personnel from the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF), Klamath-Lake District, in cooperation with other local fire agencies and departments declared the termination of the 2009 season at 1201 AM Thursday, Oct.15,2009. "Fire Season" for the area has been in effect since June 1st.

The end of fire season lifts the Regulated Closures restrictions on smoking, campfires, off-road vehicles and the need to carry fire tools on lands protected by ODF. Logging Operation requirements including watchmen services and fire equipment on site, in effect on private, county and state lands have also been lifted.

In addtion, the ban on Open Debris burning in Klamth and Lake Counties has been lifted. Check with your local rural stuctural fire districts for burning regulations within their districts and county health departments for air quality restrictions. The ODF Klamath-Lake District does not issue or require burn permits on lands solely protected by them when fire season is not effect. Landowners need to remember that any burning escaping their control is their liabilty and they could be billed for fre suppression costs.
